What a strong applicant looks like

A competitive EMJMD applicant holds a bachelor's degree with consistently strong grades across the technical or analytical core of their discipline, not just in electives, and can point to at least one substantial piece of independent work — a thesis, a research assistantship, a published paper, or a capstone project — that demonstrates they can produce original intellectual output rather than just complete coursework. Equally important is a credible rationale for the multinational structure of the specific program: the strongest candidates explain concretely why studying at University A in semester one and University B in semester two serves a research or career goal that a single-country master's could not achieve. Candidates who have already crossed institutional or national boundaries — through exchange programs, international internships, collaborative fieldwork, or working in multilingual environments — signal precisely the adaptive capacity the program is designed to cultivate and reward.
