Swedish Institute
The Swedish Institute Scholarships for Global Professionals (SISGP) are awarded to highly motivated professionals from certain countries to study a full-time master's programme in Sweden.
Open to citizens of eligible countries with at least 3,000 hours (about 2 years) of work experience. Several African countries are eligible including Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Ethiopia, and others. Strong leadership profile required.
Bachelor's degree (minimum 180 ECTS or equivalent)
RequiredAt least 3,000 hours of work experience
RequiredEnglish proficiency (IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 90)
RequiredCitizen of an eligible country
RequiredA competitive applicant typically holds three or more years of post-bachelor professional experience in a field like public health, education policy, environmental science, or a related area with clear social impact relevance, and can point to a specific leadership role — managing a team, designing a program, or driving a policy process — rather than just participating in one. They are applying to a master's programme that directly extends their existing professional track, not pivoting cold into a new field, so the connection between their current work and the Swedish programme's curriculum is legible and specific. Critically, they can articulate a credible return plan: how the Swedish degree fills a concrete gap in their home country's professional landscape and how they personally intend to apply it there, ideally with institutional backing or a clear sector context to anchor that claim.
